Byron Brauchli holds an MFA in photography from the University of Texas at Austin. He is currently a researcher at the Institute of Fine Arts at the University of Veracruz, Xalapa.

He has been a fellow of the US-Mexico Fund for Culture and the Fulbright-García Robles foundations. In 2007 the University of Arizona and la Universidad Veracruzana published a book of US-Mexican photographs On the Line. His upcoming book, Crossroads, will be published in 2015 by la Universidad Veracruzana.

With over 100 individual and collective exhibitions, his photographs have been exhibited in such venues as The Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the Center for Creative Photography (Tucson, AZ), the Wittliff Collection (San Marcos, TX), and the National Photo Archive in Pachuca.

His work is in such collections as The Center for Creative Photography, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, La Fototeca Nacional (Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico) and the William Cuendet Foundation in Vevey, Switzerland, to mention a few.
